What Others are Saying About Piggie and Elephant Makerspace Challenge Cards:

I'm IN LOVE with this resource!!!! I'm going to use it next week and cannot wait!! There is so much here that will be perfect for teachers and students! I'd rate this a 5/5!!! Some thoughts.....

The digital version is SO helpful, especially with the distance learning currently happening. This will be great for the kids learning at home and even for the kids doing hybrid because they can continue to work on it at home as well. I tried it out and it works perfectly!

As a STEAM teacher, I LOVE the use of the engineer design process! My K-2 students will love learning this along with Elephant & Piggie!

I LOVE the challenges, they are so much fun and kids will have a blast and be so motivated!

Everything is clearly organized, contents described, and easy to find.

THANK YOU for the essential questions and standards!!!! Teachers LOVE that information, as it makes lesson planning so much easier!!!!

The engineer design process book is adorable and easy to use! ~ Jennifer G.

These were amazing! I love Piggie and Gerald books and I would give these challenges a rating of 5. Visually, these challenge cards are very appealing and I think students will really enjoy them. They seem easy to follow and I appreciate how the teachers can add in their own times for how long the students have to work on the challenge. This is nice because some groups of students may be quicker at these types of challenges than others that have not done many of these before. I also really like how some challenges list a specific item to use but others allow for any maker space items to be used. It allows for a good variety of supplies to be used and experimented with. I tried the digital version too and it works well. The student pages also seem easy for students to follow. It is a good way for students to break their ideas down to figure out solutions to the challenges. I can definitely see myself using these with my class! I might even use them with my daughter at home since she loves Piggie and Gerald too. ~Marissa V.

I think it's great. I know it's geared toward K-2 but it can definitely be used with older grades. The transportation one goes with forces and motion. The refrigeration one goes with types of energy as well as conductors vs. insulators. I also like how two of these can be tied to social- emotional lessons, learning how to occupy yourself/self regulate and finding ways to include friends. I like the resources that you provided at the beginning and that you included links to the books that were available on youtube. In my opinion this makes it something that a teacher can literally just open and start, little to no prep. It took me a second to understand the task "Build a device that allows Gerald to speak to the whale" but that could just be me lol. It didn't immediately occur to me that we were building a boat/flotation device to get closer to the whale. The recording pages are also really good and require students to critically think about the other solutions. I could see using that for many activities in my classroom. The digital version works exactly as intended. I would rate this as a 5.~Brittany G.
