Makerspace STEM: Snowflakes | Winter Close Read, Challenge, & Makerspace Lesson
Winter Makerspace STEM mini-lessons and maxi lessons using the story Snowflakes is a wonderful way to teach and reinforce comprehension standards- asking and answering questions, central theme, story elements, vocabulary, story structure, and point of view, while also focusing on a Makerspace extension. Lesson plans are included for 5 days or more if you choose all standards to cover. {This resource is also Easel ready.}
Makerspace with STEM Moments in early elementary is filled with projects, designs, and ideas that inspire, motivate and challenge children in the classroom or library. This makerspace moment in literature takes an adorable book about a young girl who is trying to complete a task for her mother but she is faced with a severe snowstorm. Your kids will use critical thinking skills and problem-solving strategies to determine solutions for Irene. The book Brave Irene is not included but is necessary for this project.
MakerSpace Activity: STEAM takes the E for engineering and the A for arts from STEAM and you get Maker Space Moments in Literature. Makerspace Moments In Literature allow you to do a focused Close Reading with text as well as extend on a piece of literature with the same function and creativity of a Makerspace using engineering tools to problem solve and create. A Makerspace is a collaborative area where students can think, create, share, and grow using an assortment of materials and technologies.
