7 Spectacular Summer Idea Boards That Will Save Your Sanity

Summer is such a great time to relax, vacation, catch up on reading, and to enjoy your kids and family. But what happens with you want some much needed you time? Do you have little ones interrupting you CONSTANTLY?! I know when my kids were little they wanted to be entertained every hour of the day. {I know this is such a bad habit I created! My generation went outside and played for hours on end without adult supervision or input. We also drank from the hose and peed in the yard! I know TMI!}

So how did we get in the habit of continually entertaining our children? I really don't know. Maybe we wanted what we didn't have, or perhaps we started out loving the time we spent with them playing, but I know at some point we all need a few minutes to ourselves. Plus, it is essential for kids to be able to learn to entertain themselves. (And without devices!) Not to mention summer can be soooo long! I hope I am not the only mom who does a secret dance when school is about to start. {I mean look at the Target commercials where blissful parents are riding the carts down the aisles of school supplies. I love that one!}

So I went to the best place I know for ideas for kids during the summer months. You guessed it, Pinterest. Have I hit the jackpot of ideas!

7 Spectacular Summer Idea Boards that Will Save Your Sanity

Each board has unique ideas that will give you tons of things to do this summer. Some are even educational in case you want to ensure your child doesn't experience the summer slide. {Although, be careful. Everybody needs a break from structured learning.} Why not incorporate knowledge into playing? For example, why not try reading in a fort you built in your living room or playing a game of hopscotch while adding numbers? The best practice is to read to and with your kids. Even older kids love to hear a good book. Why not make that a daily routine? There are some great summer reads. Check out the board #6 below for some summer reading recommendations.
